Three rules

A bearing is an angle:

  1. measured from north,
  2. clockwise,
  3. written with three figures (045°, not 45°).
N120°AB

The way back

The bearing of A from B is the bearing of B from A plus 180° (or minus 180° if that goes past 360°). If B is on 060° from A, then A is on 240° from B.

Turning clockwise adds to a bearing; turning anticlockwise subtracts. Keep the answer between 000° and 359°.
