How to use the Pomodoro timer

The Pomodoro technique splits work into 25-minute focus sessions with 5-minute breaks, and a longer break after every few sessions.

  1. Press Start (or the space bar) to begin a 25-minute focus session.
  2. When the bell rings, the timer switches to a 5-minute short break. Step away from your work.
  3. After every 4 focus sessions the timer offers a longer break so you can properly recharge.
  4. Adjust the focus, break, and cycle lengths in the settings under the dial; your preferences are saved automatically.

Frequently asked questions

Is this Pomodoro timer free?
Yes. There is no paid version.
Can I change the 25/5 intervals?
Yes. You can set your own focus length, short and long break lengths, and how many cycles pass before a long break. Your settings are remembered on this device.
Does the timer keep running if I switch tabs or reload?
Yes. The countdown is based on the clock, not on the tab being active, and a running session is restored after a reload, so a Pomodoro is never lost.
Where are my Pomodoro stats saved?
In this browser, on this device. Clearing your browser data deletes them; signing in to an account syncs them.
