Break it into steps
A 5 or 6 mark problem is two or three shorter questions joined together. Find the chain:
- paint a wall, 2 coats, 1 tin covers 8 m²
- area of the wall minus the window
- double it for two coats
- divide by the cover of a tin, and round up
- multiply by the price of a tin
Label each result ("area", "tins", "cost") so you can find it again.
