The order of sharps and flats, every key up to five sharps or flats, and the major, harmonic minor and melodic minor scales.
Five sharps or flats
Sharps in a key signature come in the order F, C, G, D, A (then E, B); flats in the order B, E, A, D, G (then C, F).
- Sharps: the major key is a semitone above the last sharp.
- Flats: the major key is the second-last flat.
- The relative minor shares the key signature, three semitones below the major key note.
