The same note in three clefs

Music theory, Pitch and transposition, 12 minutes

Writing a note at the same pitch, or an octave higher or lower, in the treble, alto or bass clef.

One note, three places

The same sound sits in a different place in each clef. Middle C is a ledger line below the treble stave, the middle line of the alto stave, and a ledger line above the bass stave.

The A above middle C in the treble clef: the second space
The same A in the alto clef: the space just above the stave
The same A in the bass clef: the space above the third ledger line

Moving a note to another clef can keep the same pitch, or move it an octave.
