Naming any interval
The number from the letter names, the quality from the semitones, then augmented, diminished and compound intervals, which are new at Grade 5.
First the number
An interval is the distance between two notes. Name it in two steps, number first.
The number comes from the letter names: count from the lower note to the upper one, counting both. C up to G is C, D, E, F, G: a 5th. Accidentals never change the number: C sharp up to G flat is still a 5th.
