The same note in another clef

Moving a note or a short melody from one clef to another, at the same pitch or an octave higher or lower.

Same pitch, different place

The same sound sits in a different place in each clef. Middle C is a ledger line below the treble stave, the middle line of the alto stave, the fourth line of the tenor stave and a ledger line above the bass stave.

So to move a note to another clef, never copy its place on the stave. Name the note first, with its octave, then find where that pitch sits in the new clef.
