About this game
BitLife is a text-based life simulator: you are born as a random person and live one whole life, a year at a time, through the choices you make. Some lives turn out sensible and successful, others go spectacularly wrong, and half the fun is seeing the story you end up writing.
Made by another developer and hosted on Brainlag.
How to play
Press Age to move forward one year. Each year brings events in the log, and often a pop-up asking how you respond, from childhood fights to job offers and awkward family moments. Between years you can act yourself through the menus at the bottom: Occupation for school and jobs, Assets for what you own, Relationships for family, partners and friends, and Activities for everything else you might try.
Four bars track how you are doing: Happiness, Health, Smarts and Looks. Your decisions push them up or down, and they shape what happens next, from exam results to how long you live. When your character dies, the life is summed up and you may earn a ribbon that describes the kind of life it was. This build counts 63 ribbons to collect across many lives.

Tips
- Keep an eye on Smarts in childhood. Studying while you are young makes school easier and opens better jobs later.
- Look after Health as you get older. A healthier character simply lives longer, which means more years to build a career, a family or a fortune.
- Don't press Age on autopilot. Before skipping ahead, check your relationships and activities; a lot of the good outcomes come from things you choose to do, not just from events.
- Pick a goal for each life. Aiming for a particular career, a big family or a particular ribbon makes your choices feel meaningful and helps you collect different ribbons.
- Risky choices like crime can land you in prison, which can eat up years of a life. Try them when you are curious, not when you are protecting a good run.
FAQ
Does BitLife save my progress?
Yes, the game saves its state in this browser, so you can come back to your current life later. Clearing site data, using a private window or switching device means starting over.
Can I play on a phone or Chromebook?
Yes. Everything is tapping buttons and reading text, so it works well on phones, tablets and Chromebooks.
Is there an end?
Each life ends when your character dies, and then you can start a new one with a different person. There is no final ending, but collecting all 63 ribbons is a long-term goal.
