About this game

Car Rush is a retro-style arcade racer where you are up against the clock, not other drivers. You weave through traffic on winding roads and try to cross the finish line before the timer hits zero. Runs are short and snappy, so it is easy to fit in one more attempt.

Made by another developer and hosted on Brainlag.

How to play

The game is split into three worlds with three tracks each, nine tracks in total. Pick a world, choose a track and the race starts after the countdown. Every track has a time limit, from just over a minute on the first one to a little over two minutes on the last.

Hold the accelerator to build speed and steer around the slower cars that share the road. Curves push your car toward the outside edge, and hitting traffic or roadside scenery like trees, bushes and cacti costs you precious seconds. If the timer runs out before the finish, you see Time is up and can try again.

Your score comes from the time you have left when you finish: every second remaining is worth 100 points. The game remembers your best time on each track and your total score, so you can return later to shave off a few more seconds.

Tips

  • Stay on the accelerator almost all the time. The clock is your real opponent, and braking for every car usually loses more time than steering around it.
  • Start turning in a little before a bend. The car drifts toward the outside of curves, so steering early keeps you off the grass and away from the trees.
  • Look far ahead for gaps in traffic and pick your lane early. Late swerves are what cause most collisions.
  • The second world's roads have only two lanes and noticeably less grip, so ease off on long bends instead of fighting the slide at full speed.
  • The last world has wide four-lane roads but far more cars. Hold a lane until you see a clear path rather than zig-zagging through the pack.

FAQ

Does it save my progress?

Yes. Your best times and total score are saved in this browser. Clearing site data or playing on another device starts you fresh, and there is also an in-game option to wipe your records.

Can I play on a phone or tablet?

Yes. On touch screens the game shows buttons for accelerating, braking and steering. On a laptop or Chromebook just use the arrow keys.

How do I get a higher score?

Finish with more time left. Since each spare second is worth 100 points, the best scores come from clean runs with no crashes and as little braking as possible.
