About this game

Drift Boss is a one-button driving game on a zigzag track floating in the air. Your car only turns two ways, and the whole skill is timing the switch at every corner so you drift round it instead of sailing off the edge. Runs are short and the next one starts in a second, so it is very easy to say just one more.

Made by another developer and hosted on Brainlag.

How to play

Hold the button and the car turns right; let go and it turns left. The track is a chain of sharp bends, so you are constantly pressing and releasing to swing the car through each corner. Drift too early or too late and you go over the side, which ends the run. The quick tutorial at the start walks you through a right and a left turn before the real track begins.

Your score climbs with the distance you cover, and the best one is shown on the main menu. Coins along the track pay for new cars and for boosters you can switch on before a run: double score, car insurance and coin rush. There are also daily rewards, a spin-to-win wheel and an hourly loot box that gives you a car card. Collect three identical cards and assemble them into a higher level card, and a level 5 card lets you drive that special car.

Tips

  • Only start the drift when you are close to the bend. Turning early is the most common way to fall off, especially after a long straight.
  • Think one corner ahead. In tight sections the bends come in quick pairs, so your release for the next corner is often already due as you finish the current one.
  • You can still steer in mid-air after a jump, so don't give up if you leave a ramp at an awkward angle. Correct before you land.
  • If you keep sliding off, spend your coins on a better car. The game's own tip is that upgrades give you better tire grip, which makes the timing more forgiving.

FAQ

Does Drift Boss save my progress?

Yes. Your best score, coins, cars and cards are saved in this browser's local storage. Clearing site data or switching to another device or browser starts you from scratch.

Can I play on a phone or Chromebook?

Yes. On a phone or tablet you hold and release a finger on the screen, and on a Chromebook you can use Space or the touchpad. The game is laid out for landscape, so turn your phone sideways.

How do I get a higher score?

Smooth beats fast: commit to each drift late, keep your rhythm through the double bends and use the double score booster on a run when you are feeling sharp.
