About this game
Shortcut Race is a 3D running race where the fastest route is almost never the road. You scoop up wooden planks as you run, stack them on your back and then lay them down to build a bridge straight across the water while the other runners take the long way round.
Made by another developer and hosted on Brainlag. This game also connects to: advertising networks.
How to play
Your runner moves forward on their own, and you steer left and right. Planks lie all along the course, and every one you run over goes on your stack. Step off the track onto water and you start laying planks under your feet, one after another, for as long as your stack lasts. Run out in the middle of the water and you fall in.
Reach the finish ahead of the other runners to clear the level. Whatever planks you still carry at the end help you go further past the finish line, onto platforms that multiply your reward. After that, a lucky wheel can multiply your coins again.
Coins go toward the shop, where a random unlock gives you a new character skin. Your coins, skins and current level are kept between visits, and each new level brings a fresh course to cut corners on.

Tips
- Count before you jump off the track. A shortcut only works if your stack is tall enough to reach the next piece of land, so build up planks first on the safe parts of the course.
- Short cuts across a bend are safer than one huge leap across open water. Several small shortcuts usually beat one risky one.
- Do not waste every plank on shortcuts near the end. The planks you still hold at the finish are what carry you onto the higher multiplier platforms.
- Steer in small movements. Swinging wide makes you miss lines of planks, and a missed row can be the difference between reaching land and falling in.
FAQ
Does it save my progress?
Yes. Your coins, unlocked skins and level are stored in this browser. Clearing site data or switching to another device takes you back to the start.
Can I play on a phone or Chromebook?
Yes. On a phone or tablet you steer by dragging on the screen, and on a Chromebook or computer you use the arrow keys or A and D.
Why did I fall into the water?
You ran out of planks before reaching land. Either collect more before leaving the track, or choose a shorter gap to cross.
