About this game
Snake io is the classic grow-a-snake arena game: eat glowing food, get longer, and make other snakes crash into your body. The arena is crowded with rival worms that hunt, dodge and steal food from each other, so every round turns into a scramble for position. Rounds are short, which makes it easy to fit one in between other things.
Made by another developer and hosted on Brainlag. This game also connects to: GamesSumo (game portal).
How to play
Your worm moves all the time and follows your pointer, so you steer by moving the mouse or your finger. Eat the food scattered across the arena to grow longer and heavier. If your head touches another worm's body, you are out; if another worm's head runs into your body, it is out and leaves a trail of food behind for you to collect.
Hold the mouse button or press and hold on the screen to boost. Boosting makes you faster, which is how you cut in front of rivals, but you need a certain length before it works and it uses up some of your size. Power-ups also appear around the map, including a magnet that pulls nearby food toward you and a shield, plus freeze and flash pickups.
Your rivals are computer-controlled worms, and a leaderboard and minimap show who is biggest. Each round earns XP toward your player level, and the game sets objectives such as kills, kill streaks and survival time. Clearing objectives unlocks new worm designs on the selection screen.

Tips
- Circle around smaller worms. Once a rival is inside your loop, tighten it slowly and they have nowhere to go but into your body.
- Boost in short bursts. A quick dash in front of another worm's head is enough for a kill, and long boosts just burn your length.
- Stay away from the biggest worms on the leaderboard early on. Grow quietly on loose food first, then go hunting when you are long enough to trap others.
- Check the objectives before you play. If the next one asks for kills, play aggressively that round; if it asks for survival time, play safe.
FAQ
Does it save my progress?
Yes. Your player level, XP, objectives and unlocked worms are stored in this browser, so they are still there next time on the same device. Clearing site data or using another device starts you fresh.
Can I play on a phone or tablet?
Yes. Drag your finger to steer and press and hold to boost. It plays well on touch screens as well as with a mouse.
Are the other snakes real players?
No. The other worms in the arena are computer-controlled, each with a random name, so you can play any time without waiting for a match.
