About this game

Tomb of the Mask is a fast maze game where you never walk: every move fires you in a straight line until you slam into a wall. That one rule turns each corridor into a puzzle about where you will stop, and at full speed it becomes a reflex test too.

Made by another developer and hosted on Brainlag. This game also connects to: Google, Unity (game engine services), Dropbox.

How to play

Choose a direction and your masked hero shoots that way until something solid stops him, so you plan routes from wall to wall rather than step by step. Spikes, traps and enemies line the tombs, and touching one ends your attempt. Dots and coins sit along the corridors for you to sweep up as you go.

There are two main ways to play. Story mode is split into stages with goals such as collecting all the dots in a stage, and these stages use energy. Arcade is the classic endless mode, with no energy required: you climb an endless tomb while lava rises from below, so you have to keep moving upward. Power-ups help along the way, including a magnet that pulls in nearby pickups, a shield and a freeze, and coins can be spent on new masks.

Tips

  • Look at where a move ends, not where it starts. Before each input, follow the line to the wall it will hit and check that the landing spot is safe.
  • Use walls as brakes. Since you can only stop by hitting something, the best routes chain short dashes between walls that leave you right next to the next opening.
  • In Arcade, keep climbing even if it means skipping coins. The rising lava doesn't wait, and a detour for a few coins is the usual way runs end.
  • Save the shield for the busy sections. One protected mistake in a tight spike corridor is worth far more than in an easy open area.
  • In story stages, plan your sweep for the dots before you start. Collecting all the dots is easier with one loop through the stage than by doubling back.

FAQ

Does it save my progress?

Yes. Your stage progress, coins and masks are saved in this browser. Clearing site data, using a private window or switching device starts you from the beginning.

Can I play on a phone or Chromebook?

Yes. On phones and tablets you swipe to move, and on a Chromebook or laptop you use the arrow keys. Arrow keys feel the most precise at high speed.

Is there an end?

Story mode has a set of stages to work through, while Arcade is endless and only stops when the lava or a trap catches you, so there is always a higher climb to aim for.
