About this game
Traffic Jam 3D is a traffic racer where the road is packed with ordinary cars and you are the one weaving through them at full speed. It starts you off in a tiny city car and lets you work your way up a garage of real-world models toward proper supercars.
Made by another developer and hosted on Brainlag. This game also connects to: Unity (game engine services).
How to play
Career mode is a long list of levels, each with its own mission. Some ask you to reach checkpoints before the timer runs out, others to overtake a set number of cars in a time limit, score a target number of points, finish a set number of seconds early or simply win a race. Crash too hard and the attempt is over.
Points come from driving fast and passing other vehicles very closely, and quick close passes build an overtake combo. Every level also has a required performance rating. If your car falls short, the game tells you, and you need to upgrade it or buy a better one before you can pass.
Cash buys and upgrades cars, while gold buys nitro boosts. Outside the career you can drive freely in endless runs on one-way or two-way roads, across city, highway and desert maps at different times of day.
Controls
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| Arrow keys | Accelerate, brake and steer |
| On-screen controls | Drive on a touch screen (tilt steering can be calibrated) |
Tips
- Close passes are worth far more than clean ones. Skim past cars with a small gap to keep the overtake combo going, but leave enough room to avoid clipping their bumpers.
- On two-way roads, oncoming traffic is the biggest danger. Pass in the oncoming lane only when you can see a clear stretch ahead.
- Spend early cash on upgrading the car you have before saving for a dream car. A level's performance rating is about the numbers, and upgrades are the cheapest way to meet it.
- Save nitro for long straight stretches. Using it in dense traffic mostly just makes the crash happen sooner.
- Come back on another day for the daily reward. It is a free top-up of currency for the next upgrade.
FAQ
Does it save my progress?
Yes. Your cars, upgrades, money and career progress are stored in this browser. Clearing site data or switching device means starting over.
Can I play on a phone or Chromebook?
Yes. On a Chromebook or computer use the arrow keys, and on a phone or tablet the game gives you on-screen controls, with tilt steering you can calibrate.
What does the performance rating message mean?
Each career level has a minimum performance rating. If your car is below it, the game warns that the level cannot be passed with that car. Upgrade it or buy a stronger one in the garage, then try again.
