The same note in the other clef
Where the clefs meet
The treble and bass staves share the notes around middle C. The same sound can be written in either clef, in a different place on each stave.
Worked example
Write this bass clef note at the same pitch in the treble clef.
- Name it, with where it is: the first ledger line above the bass stave is middle C, so the space above it is the D just above middle C.
- In the treble clef, middle C is the first ledger line below, so that D is the space just below the stave.
Tip: never copy the place on the stave. Name the note, find how far it is from middle C, then find that place in the other clef.
