Harmonic analysis, chord by chord
How to name any chord in a printed extract: collecting its notes from every stave, finding the root, numbering it in the key and reading its position from the lowest note, with the traps that catch people out.
Why it matters
In questions 4 and 5 many of the marks go on harmony. Several chords are marked with letters (A, B, C) and you name each one with a Roman numeral and its position: IVb, Ic, V7. Every one is found the same way, so it pays to make the method automatic.
