Analysing an extract
Questions 4 and 5 carry half the marks of the paper. This unit works through a printed extract the way an examiner reads one: every chord in context, every kind of cadence, the notes outside the chord, and the shape and rhythm of the melody.
Start with Harmonic analysis, chord by chord. In 18 minutes you will be able to name any chord in a printed extract from its notes on every stave, with its position.
