Rhythmic features
Reading the rhythm of an extract the way the questions do: the metre, dotted rhythms, quaver movement, rhythms that come back, and syncopation.
Clap it before you answer
Rhythm questions are about note values, not pitches. Clap or tap the part bar by bar, saying each value to yourself (minim, crotchet, quaver), and the answer is usually obvious. Do it for the one part the question names: the right hand, the violin I part, the bass.
