Writing for the instrument
A melody written for a named instrument has to suit it: its clef and range, its breathing or bowing, the directions a player reads, and, when words are set, the way the words are spoken.
Start with Writing for the instrument. In 12 minutes you will be able to write in a way that suits strings, woodwind or brass.
